Shhh Don't Tell My Wife,I Love the BBQ at Hometown BBQ

Here in this part of Gwinnett County it can be a little hard to find some good BBQ . Kind of crazy when you think about it. Here we are in the South. We've got kudzu,Braves baseball and lots of sweet tea. Just not lots of good juicy BBQ at every corner.

You want to be able to go in and have a plate of food that has some great flavor, some great sauce, and some good sides. It has to be a clean place because my experience tells me that sometime BBQ joints could be cleaner. Then, as always, the folks that are running the place need to act like they are happy to be there and even more happy that I showed up too. Well, the search is over, I have found the place.

HomeTown Barbeque, 1173 Lawrenceville Hwy,Lawrenceville, Ga. is the pride and joy of George and Martha Kelly. They are there every day greeting and filling your order. A hint to other places, go ahead and ask your customer his or her name , it adds to the experience in a positive way. Sort of like you are at Cheers where everybody Knows your name. Really nice people serving up really nice BBQ...BBQ at its best. There is a BUTT though.

I am a fan of the Pickle. BBQ is so rich and full its needs a balance. At HomeTown they almost get me there with the cole slaw, the best I ever had,but...still . They don't offer a single pickle. Not even a sweet gherkin or a bread a butter slice or even a kosher dill....anything would do. Maybe the next time I go I'll bring my own jar of pickles. Cause I'm going back ....real soon.

No pickles? You might as well eat out of a trough!
