What really makes me wonder is the fact that so many oppose this medical reform package. When , it really is there to help. Now before you wrap that GOP, self determinate , free market American flag around your proud self answer me this. If the real tax increase is going to impact those that make $250,000 or more then why do you care ? For the most part I don't know many people that earn that much money. Or, let's say I do know some folks at 300k and even fewer at 500K.. And my friendly reader...neither do you. So when your one out of ten friend that earns ...$1,000,000 is asked to pony up for an additional $35,000...why do you care?
Before you get all syrupy about their slight increase in taxes...remembering that if they make 2,000,000 their increase would be $70,000. ( that means one of those below average ballplayers will have to forgo a new worthless trinket or two) But, in your thinking , remember that ever since TEFRA in 1986....Ronald Reagan's supply side, trickle down tax break for the rich. These guys and gals have had their after tax income go up while the middle class....has had no increase in after tax income.
The idea was that the rich would provide jobs and money to come on down to the rest of us. And, that when you decrease taxes rates on the rich they actually pay more taxes. Well folks...it doesn't work. The middle class has had their income stay flat and ....their expenses go way up.
You see if you think its harder to pay for college, medical help,gas ...or if it just seems harder...you are not alone. It is harder. The math supports what I'm telling you.
Here is good article that supports my point;
