Letter to those Dear to us that Completely Don't Get IT

You are not a racist. We do have views that differ from mine. GM,TARP,Uni health,Gitmo closing,reform Edu,renewable energy....all of these are part of our duly elected President's agenda. I think that all the right wing jibes/out and out lies ; birther,socialism,death panel,he's a Muslim, soft on terrorism, etc...all sorely miss the point and do a disservice to our country.

That analysis of the medical bill was seriously flawed...in too many places to matter to me. I don't have time to answer all of the right wing media and their predictable positions....they will do what they are paid to do and their living in the area of half the truth is well documented.

Obama's agenda and methods make clear sense to me and 60 million other people too I might add. The democrats won the election...deal. I like having our President be the smartest guy in the room.

I am sure I can "defend" the concept of stopping a system that grows at a rate 4 times the rate of wage growth. We should reform a system that takes 17% of our GDP when most other medical systems are at 9% GDP. I am sure I can defend a change when the greatest number of bankruptcy filings are as a result of medical expenses. When I hear that reform is called socialism I just think.....mmmmmm what about Social Security,Medicare,VA,and Medicaid? Would you give those up? If the argument comes back that Yes you would give those programs up... Then I have to say you ( whoever) are being unrealistic and making an argument that simply can't be sustained because those programs and UNI Medical care are essential to our country...getting rid of these programs won't happen. If it is all too socialistic ...well its much more complex than that.

I can defend the effort to stop the auto industry from completely crashing and creating a way for that industry to make the necessary changes that the industry leaders were either too stupid or too greedy to make in the first place. We will eventually not be the most major stockholder in the auto industry and we will make money on the sale of our stake in that industry. The choices our government made were not easy...maybe not perfect....but they made decisions and calling them socialist is crap.

I can defend raising C.A.F.E. standards,doing TARP , speaking the truth to Israel,don't ask don't tell, wind energy...and many other of Obama's policys. I am proud that we have elected such a smart and talented minority leader. I am aware that those that are listening to Rush,Beck and Hannity are following the leadership of people that never got out of the first year of college. I am proud that the power has shifted and our system really works. Will there be miscues going forward ?..Of course there will ..but overall I like our direction.

I can defend the notion that our business community will prosper under reformed healthcare.The increasing costs of medical benefits are causing our industries to be less competitive in a globalized world. I think that most companies would prefer to have a medical benefit cost that they could at least project or predetermine rather than the one they deal with now. Medical benefit costs increase at such alarming rates . I think that , were medical costs not so out of control in the recent past, more companies would be able to keep providing other benefits that have gone by the wayside. (actual pensions would be one)
