Cops...Unreasonable Search...They do it Every Time

There are so many "Cops" shows on TV. Its is kind of like a terrible accident....I can't look away. In almost every episode some poor guy is pulled over, consents to a search and ....goes to jail for having a piece of weed in his possession. The police are doing there job but the citizen really is not doing theirs. And, it really just fries me that someone is really doing nothing but driving a car and all of a sudden they lose their freedom. Because of their fear and their ignorance. We have a right to simply say ' Officer with all due respect I don't consent to a search."

No doubt in my mind that the money this country spends every year arresting, putting on a trial and housing in jail those people that choose to remain high is a waste. The numbers are staggering. And, we are now running out of money so maybe we should pause and reflect on the direction that we have taken as a country in the "War on Drugs". Although this "War on Drugs " is becoming more and more of a waste of resources it does not take away from the fact that if you are caught in possession of illegal drugs you will have a mess to clean up and it may be a mop in a state facility.

My purpose is to share a site that I found that has a video which the ACLU made that explains my rights to not consent to a search. Even as law abiding citizens we never know what a guest may have , what a child has gotten into or what agenda the police personnel may be operating under. So , it is better.. that if they want to enter my home...they have a warrant. Because once you give consent to enter whatever they see can be used, if it is in "plain view".

I don't consent to a search

I don't admit to being guilty

Any more conversation and I will need an attorney

Here is the video site . Take a look and maybe some day it will come in handy to explain to an officer that we respect that they are doing their jobs but that I am going to do my job as a citizen and protect my right to no unreasonable search.
