A Beauty Queen , Are We Surprised?

Watching the Charlie Gibson interrogation of Sarah Palin was in part hard to watch. I think that on some issues like abortion and guns she knows exactly what to say because she is basically a conservative and has been for a long time. When it came to Israel or Soviet Georgia I sensed that she had been coached or tutored. That may not be fair but I think we would all agree that she is no policy wonk and that she is a beauty queen with a large extended family.

This is a real turnaround for the grand old party when you think about how boring it has been with good old Dick Cheney Vice presidents residence in the old naval observatory. He really isn't a very exciting person if you allow for the stray shot gun blast here and there. But day to day there hasn't been much news coming from Dick.

No, I think we shouldn't be surprised at all when we factor in that this is the party of Dan Quayle. You remember him, he was yet another articulate republican that I understand had a great golf game but sometimes would not be able to engage his mind with his mouth. His most famous gaff was the motto for the United Negro College Fund, "A mind is a terrible thing to waste" . His version was somewhat different....Quayle said "You take the United Negro College Fund model that what a waste it is to lose one's mind or not to have a mind is being very wasteful. How true that is." Isn't Wikipedia just great .

We shouldn't be surprised but we can say....Enough !
