Simply the Best. From the words that sounded like Aaron Sorkin wrote them to the amazing happening of the full stadium exploding with fireworks while country music plays on ....simply a great finish to a great historic event. This is so big , we have a black man as a candidate for President. Not for Vice president and not some third party half measure but an actual true candidate.
This candidate is also what he says he is; he is a product of this country and his success would not be possible in any other country. He has come from very simple beginnings, recieved a great world class education and is now a candidate for President.I think he truly has a unique way of thinking about how to govern and how to lead. No other candidate has offered this country such a choice for new leadership in my lifetime.
Last night there was a time when the focus changed. Because all throughout the convention there was so much concern about just what the Clinton's would do. As we listened to Hillary and then Bill speak all of those negative aspects of their political lives were in the back of our minds. Once Barack Obama accepted the Democratic Nomination all of the old Clinton drama became unimportant....they became history.
At one point Barack Obama said that we have had ENOUGH of Bush and all that came with his administration and that we don't want four more years of the same . When he said Enough...it was very powerful and the future began.
The pundits will second guess every move and doubt every fact. But in a real sense they are not the audience that Barack Obama is speaking to. They have health care, they have high paying jobs and they don't worry about the quality of their children's education. They are immune and all they do is second guess and criticize. But last night Barack Obama spoke to the people who do have these problems and they people loved him.
