This Week with George Stephanopoulos

We have a serious problem . When a group of Nigerian boat owners decide to close down an oil rig and it has an impact on our supply of oil ,we have a serious problem. Of course the problem is much worse than just Nigeria.Any number of marginal states can hold us hostage for want of oil.

Energy independence is the solution to our problem but saying those words is easy ,getting it done is not. On This Week we saw part of the problem.A House Member and a Senator from different parties (of course) both just wonderful people I'm sure, but both just voicing their politically motivated concerns. And,you know, not a leader among them.

We are so in need of a leader. All we got from This Week was 20/20 hindsight, party line dogma , and really nervous and halting discourse .I mean really ,they had a rep from the oil company lobby that could barely get his point across, and these congressional members were just short of having their bottom lip come out like my 11 year old. This happens all the time. Elected officials need to recognize that just re-stating their respective party line is not what we need.We need the people we elect to work out solutions to complex problems.

Energy Independence,War on Terror,Immigration ,Medical Coverage,War on Drugs ,Education of our Children, and Food Prices are all critical issues to our country that any number of elected officials can offer little solutions for other than falling in line with their respective party.

Sounds like we need political independence. Independent since 1993.

The free, competitive market would have solved these things you list years ago. If gov. wasn't involved to put a screeching halt to competition. And propping up antique technology.
We really don't need any government, if you stop to think about it. we vote with our $$ ultimately anyway. Why are they needed? Kind of like religious leaders, just there to get free money flowing into there pockets without creating anything of value. Do you really need to pay a man to have an honest relationship with another man or a god for that matter?
